I) If you need repair service make sure that any sensitive or private data is backed up, and/or removed from computer prior to any receipt of services.
A computer technician has full access to everything on your computer, regardless of how well you think it might be hidden. Anything you do not want anyone else to see should be removed from the computer before deployment of service. Dynatron Digital holds itself to very strict ethical standards. Any private information on your computer is your business, and will NOT be shared with anyone, nor will we be looking for it. This, however, cannot protect your information and a technician from crossing paths during normal service procedures. I'm talking about personal stuff like credit card numbers, e-mails to your mistress, anything illegal, etc.
During some services (Operating System installation, hard drive replacement, etc) it is possible that the entire information content of your computer may be erased / lost / replaced. although this is a last resort measure that will be done only with special approval from you, make sure to back up any data that you do not want to lose, or cannot afford to lose prior to major repair service..
Backup services are available from Dynatron for a competitive fee with many options for accessing your data (including across the internet). I'll try to do my best to save your progress on Xbox games, but it doesn't always work out with all games or mod procedures. If it does work out, i'll provide you with a backup copy on request.
II) Computer electronics cannot always be realistically fixed.
If your epuipment is determined to be unfixable by Dynatron, do not give up hope. A second opinion is rarely a bad idea, and you will not be charged for anything but travel expenses if i am unable to complete services.
As far as liability of damage, please don't blame me for breaking something on a broken computer. If it was malfunctioning at the time of service deployment, it may still be so when returned. If failing equipment is returned to the owner in the same condition, it's problems are neither the fiscal nor ethical responsibility of Dynatron Digital.
If you have any worries, we can both do an inspection before service and thoroughly document the condition of the machine. Otherwise, you are putting your trust in me. I can proudly say that this has never been an issue, but we still must cover it.
Your guarantee of satisfaction is limited to the services that were deployed. Unrelated issues or issues of mis-use by the customer will be neither the fiscal nor ethical responsibility of the technician or Dynatron Digital.
Irresponsible use is the quickest way to a broken computer, and broken warranty. Educate yourself, then you don't have to call me every time. I do provide lessons for the novice.
For Modded XBOXes, you may provide the XBOX, or one will be provided at a base rate of $100. It may be used or new, but i will cover the hardware under my own warranty for half of a 365 day year from the time you get your finished xbox. The custom work will raise the price from $100 to amounts specified by the features you would like. If you do provide an xbox for modding, it may not be the same one you get back as the finished product. Different productions have different abilities and traits, and some do not respond well to modding. there is a failure rate when it comes to modifying XBOXes, but i guarantee that you will be satisfied. If not, i will give you a stock XBOX upon return of the modded one. Also, please note that a lot of the mods that i sell will disable your ability to use XBOX live online service. Some mods are designed to have a disable mechanism of some kind for online play. This does not guarantee that Microsoft won't catch you and get angry. I don't blame them. If people were able to cheat online, it would be a very sad way to compete. Please note that any attempt to change the state of the xbox hardware in any way other than opening the DVD tray will result in a voided factory warranty (if applicable).
III) Possibly the MOST IMPORTANT for COMPUTER SERVICE is that you have all related materials ready at the time of deployment, and make sure that third party servicing does not void your warranty (when applicable).
Please keep in mind that any XBOX warranty is voided if you, or I, even turn a screw loose. The same applies to many computers. Please be educated in your decision to call me. If it is under warranty, that is usually your best option, as long as you don't mind waiting. It is the equipment owner's responsibility to inform me of any active warranty's or service plans before i touch the computer.
NOW THAT YOU'VE DECIDED TO CONTINUE,
HERE'S WHAT YOU DO (PC services)....
1st, get together any of your important software packages. This includes:
Windows (or Linux) installation discs. I do not service apple equipment.
Installation discs for any hardware that came with the computer. (sometimes labeled as "mainboard drivers" or PC setup discs or "recovery discs")
Installation discs for any additional hardware that you may have purchased. (printers, scanners, digital cameras, etc.)
If you use a modem (dial-up) to connect to the internet, try to find the installation disk. This is sometimes included with the "main board drivers" disc.
Collect all of your software installation discs so that you may have all of your programs re-installed in the event of an OS re-installation or a hard drive deletion/replacement. An Operating system re-installation is at times the only realistic way to fix a botched machine, especially in some cases of massive malicious code infection (spy ware, ad ware, virus, etc). Doing this is like resetting your computer to the factory default state. Any software that you had installed will need to be re-installed. You may also have to re-adjust your preferences to return to your pre-catastrophe state.
2nd, after you have gotten all of your installation discs together, find all of the information you may need to connect to the internet (if applicable).
This may include a software package on a disc.
This will include access numbers for dial-up users.
Have your user name and password for connecting to the network handy.
If you have high speed internet make sure you have any materials relevant to the operation of your router. (most DSL or cable modems are routers).
Have a working number to reach your Internet Service Provider's customer support office. Please verify before hand.
The last few bits of information we request are:
A rough outline of the equipment's service history. Nothing too detailed, just any major services or problems that you have had, or are having.
Any passwords/usernames required to operate or maintain the machine.
The make and model of your equipment unless it is a custom build.
Your full name and/or business name with a current address for billing, on-site service, or both.
A description of what your solution needs to provide and what your cost range is.
Some of this information may be easier for me to gather on-site, but the better prepared i am, the quicker your service is. Many solutions are formulated before i even sit down with the machine. To save you some money, i encourage you to be well prepared. I do charge labor by the hour, so it would benefit you to be well prepared.
Calling my phone numbers, or sending an e-mail to me requesting service will form an understanding that you have read, and agree to the terms laid out in this document. Calling on me after reading this will be understood as your signature.
thank you for choosing the best computer service available in the greater omaha area.
i'm sure that you will be satisfied, i think you will also be impressed.
